The Wonderful World Beneath Our Feet: Exploring Soil Biology

April 6 @ 1:00 pm

$5

Did you know healthy garden soil has more microbes in less than a quarter of a cup than there are people in the world? Join Helena’s microgreens farmer and organic practicing backyard grower, Joe Naiman-Sessions, as we explore what is in your garden soil. In this workshop we will look at soil composition and how that affects soil biology, the benefits of healthy soil biology, the dangers of soil pathogens, and methods that you can use to ensure a healthy and thriving soil. We will learn about how conventional amendments, fertilizers, and pesticides and what you plant can negatively impact your soil biology. And how to give your soil a major beneficial microbe boost through the use of compost, worm castings, and compost teas. By the end of this workshop you will be prepared to let microbes do the hard work for you.

Saturday April 6th

1:00 PM

We are requiring a $5 registration fee for all of our classes this season in an effort to more accurately gauge attendance. Fees will be given directly to our guest speakers, or donated to a local non-profit if the speaker is a Gardenwerks’ employee. Thanks for your understanding!
