But despite this, the proportion of land that has actually transitioned in the U.S. remains miniscule. One barrier to expansion is that there is no clear pathway for conventional farmers to make the switch. Without this type of on-ramp, large-scale acreage is not likely to transition and all the potential ecosystem benefits will never be realized.
