Northern Plains Annual Meeting

November 15 - November 16

Since our founding in 1972, Northern Plains has recognized that whether we’re from the plains, mountains, cities or towns, all of us share the common goal to protect this place we love and call home. We began when neighbors organized themselves to defend their ranches, farms, and livelihoods from plans to strip mine huge swaths of eastern Montana. We’re inspired by that “neighboring” spirit of our founders, knowing we must stand shoulder-to-shoulder to tackle the problems of today that threaten our tomorrow.

At a time when too many fan the flames of division, Northern Plains brings folks together, uniting people from differing backgrounds and perspectives under a shared purpose. Join us this year as we look to connect with one another, bolstering our collective courage to address today’s most complex challenges, together. If we look beyond our fences, listen to one another, and keep our minds open, we will find creative solutions to secure a clean, healthful environment for all.

  • Highlighting this session (One of many sessions happening on Saturday):
    • Family Farms and Ranches Today: The Final Line of Defense Often, we take for granted that everyone cares about family farms and ranches, but is that really true? In this session, we will trace the history of family farms and ranches and their role in conserving the land with the ultimate goal of answering the question: why do family farms and ranches matter? Then, we will explore the policy solutions available to support family farms and ranches today.
