Compost Fundamentals Workshop with Garden City Harvest

June 5 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

WORKSHOP DETAILS

Tired of sending those old kitchen scraps to the landfill?  Interested in improving your soil and garden with the power of compost?

Geek out with two soil lovers, and take a deep-dive into the art and science of composting!

This workshop will cover the basics of making compost and tips on managing your piles. It will equip you with the knowledge to determine when your compost is done, how much to use in your garden and when, and share anecdotes about the mistakes we’ve made along the way!

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTORS

Ethan Smith, Director of Operations, has a Master’s of Science from the University of Montana and works to keep Garden City Harvest facilities and general operations running smoothly – especially at the PEAS Farm. He enjoys hunting, fly fishing, and lying in the summer sun with his daughters, Harley and Wylie.

Dave Victor, PEAS Farm Director, is a lover of plants and the soil that sustains them. He has a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies from the University of Montana where he focused on seed saving at the River Road Farm. Off the farm, he enjoys tending to his red worms, riding his bike down dirt roads, and spending time with his son Otis.

SLIDING SCALE

Accessibility is central to the mission of Garden City Harvest. For this reason, our workshops are available on a sliding scale. Additionally, a limited number of scholarships may be available for each workshop. If interested, please email [email protected].
