INSTRUCTOR – Nancy

Whether you want to learn about goats, or increase your skill with your dog by working with another species, this camp is hands on education. In all honesty, the best dog trainers are trainers that also work with other species. Your skill increases when you learn how to apply it to varied species in their own habitat. (CEU’s, pending)

All animals are unique – goats in particular are both exciting and challenging to work with. They are a prey animal, herd oriented, matriarchal, have a very rigid and structured social order, intelligent, learn quickly and easily if they feel safe, and can cause a great deal of damage to their handler if not handled correctly.

Border Farms goats are Alpine/Nubian crosses – they breed them for dairy and packing on trails. All of the goats are handled daily. Each month offers a different focus with the goats besides daily maintenance. Whether this is getting ready for winter, loading/trail skills, breeding, kidding, milking, training – Border Farms has a full program
