33 x 33 for Montana Initiative / Local Food Club

Local Food Club

In 1950, 70% of the food Montanans ate was grown or raised in Montana.

Today it’s 3%

This means 97% of the food on Montana tables is imported. leaving Montanans vulnerable to supply chain disruptions that can cut off access to whole foods, as we saw during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Recently, Abundant Montana launched the 33×33 for Montana Initiative to secure a healthier, more resilient food future for Montana. The goal is simple and ambitious: increase the amount of Montana-grown food on Montana plates from 3% to 33% by 2033.

For 33×33 to succeed, we all need to participate. Everyone who eats is a consumer, and consumers are the most powerful means for driving industry change. To help consumers find, choose, and buy Montana-grown food, Abundant Montana launched the Local Food Club.
