Shepherd of the Bees is a small family-owned honeybee apiary north of Glendive, Montana along the Yellowstone River. Caleb is our beekeeper and fearless leader, Nikki helps with marketing and managing for the business, and we hope our daughters will eventually join in the fun!! Mostly, they just love eating the honey right now! We keep our hives as organically as we are able. We wish we could label our product as "organic", however, with neighboring farms and fields around us, we cannot honestly do so. Our honeybees feed on local nectar sources, which includes alfalfa clover and yellow clover varieties, native trees and shrubs, perennial wildflowers, and annual and perennial garden flowers, plants, and shrubs. We harvest the raw honey from the hives in late July/early August, using very little heat and very minimal processing, to completely maintain the beneficial vitamins, minerals, enzymes, and compounds in the honey. We cut and package raw honeycomb from the hives. We also hand-pour raw beeswax candles and make lip balm with our wax. We hope that in the future, we can also produce more health and wellness products. All of these products we currently sell at a few retail locations, at local Farmer's Markets, and at Vendor Shows we attend throughout the year.
