Jayme and Brandon Ford started raising quail because they were looking for a healthy alternative to chicken eggs. Quail eggs pack more nutrients per ounce and are the only poultry yolks to contain high-density lidoprotein (HDL, or healthy cholesterol) instead of low-density lidoprotein (LDL, or bad cholesterol). The Fords also support self sufficiency and buying local when possible, which keeps more money in the Flathead Valley and is more sustainable than factory-farmed foods and products. The Ford family expanded its flock to share eggs with the Flathead Valley via direct sales and subscriptions.
