Six Bozeman Restaurateurs authored an Opinion piece in the Bozeman Daily Chronicle in the fall of 2020 in response to a national survey that predicted as many as 80% of restaurants could close due to the pandemic. The Bozeman community’s call to action was simple: “…put your favorite local restaurants on your weekly calendar. Dine in with us, or do take-out and curbside pick-up, as often as your budget allows.” Furthermore, they asked us to support the restaurants that support the essential food workers, farms and ranches that make up our local food scene:
“By patronizing your local restaurants, particularly those committed to the hard-working farm-to table producers who supply us, you will be extending your support beyond us to everyone critical to our local food system: our farmers, ranchers, brewers, distillers, culinary craftspeople, processors, delivery drivers and food distribution companies.”
As a result of the pandemic, Montana has really come together to support the growing local food movement through Abundant Montana. This is the place to find local food and learn more about it. We’re excited to see how we can build on this momentum together.
For the next 6 weeks we will introduce local restaurants all over Montana! Each featured restaurant values local food, drink, farms and ranches and chooses local whenever they can. By buying a meal from these restaurants, you’re not only supporting them, you’re helping many other local businesses through this hard time!
This week, in gratitude for the inspiration from their community, we will feature Bozeman restaurants (part 1)! We are so excited to share these amazing restaurants with you. We can “Help Our Community Emerge Stronger Post-Pandemic” by connecting to Montana’s local food systems.
