SUMMARY:Horse Farm Tour & Storytelling Event
DESCRIPTION:Calling all horse enthusiasts- we’re sharing management and grazing strategies across counties and fence lines! It’s the 2nd Annual Horse Farm Tour & Storytelling Event for Western Montana equestrians! This is the APEX event each year for the Missoula County Pasture Evaluation Program which has been immensly popular. It’s also a celebration of our collective hard work on the land making our properties beautiful\, productive and safe for our horses. For this year’s tour\, we will be showcasing a well designed track system and a rotational grazing plan. \nAfter the farm tour\, participants will enjoy a catered dinner and a fabulous lineup from our very own community. Josh Slotnick\, county commissioner for Missoula County\, will be weaving tales of his time developing PEAS farm. We’ve also invited George Bettas\, long time Stevensville resident\, who has spent countless hours on horseback in Montana’s wilderness. We are also soliciting stories for YOU\, the local equestrian community\, so send us an email at natalie.sullivan1@montana.edu if you have a great story to tell about horses and our landscapes. We can’t wait to share these experiences with you on September 4th. Register now.

SUMMARY:From Your Flock to Your Table: Humane Home Poultry Harvesting
DESCRIPTION:From Your Flock to Your Table: Humane Home Poultry Harvesting \nPart of CCMT’s Heritage Skills Workshop Series\, this hands-on\, three-hour workshop offers an opportunity to learn the practical\, time-honored skill of poultry harvesting in a supportive community setting. Bring up to 10 fowl and learn how to humanely dispatch\, process\, and prepare them for your table with care and respect 🌾 This workshop is for chickens and turkeys only – no water fowl or quail. \nThis is a communal poultry butchering workshop. Everyone will work side by side and participate in every aspect of the harvest\, no matter how many fowl each person brings. Come prepared to learn\, lend a hand\, and share in the work from beginning to end. \nYour first ticket includes workshop participation and harvesting for up to five birds. You may bring additional fowl for an added fee per bird\, with a maximum of 10 birds total. \nSpace is limited to just six ticketed participants\, but each participant is welcome to bring one friend at no additional charge to learn and help with the communal harvest. \nAt the end of the workshop\, you may take home the meat from your birds or donate some or all of it to our Ladles of Love program\, helping provide nourishing\, locally sourced meals for members of our Bitterroot Valley community facing food scarcity. \nPlease bring your own ice chest to safely transport your harvested birds home. You may elect to bring ice\, but doing so is optional. \nIf your birds are your friends\, we will dispatch them for you and will teach you how to process them with reverence.
