SUMMARY:Marketing Workshop with Jenni Harris
DESCRIPTION:Strengthen your agricultural business and learn from Jenni Harris of White Oak Pastures. \nJoin Western Sustainability Exchange for a marketing workshop presented by their Director of Sales and Marketing\, Jenni Harris. Discover the major considerations that shape product lines and customer mix. Get a behind-the-scenes view of how White Oak Pastures went from a wholesale company to a resilient blend of wholesale and retail. In the last five years\, White Oak Pastures has dramatically shifted focus to direct-to-consumer sales through e-commerce. Whether you have perishable goods or craftsman products to sell\, this workshop will help you understand some of the key do’s and don’ts as they share what they’ve learned over the years. \nJenni Harris\, Will’s middle daughter\, is a member of the fifth generation of the Harris family to tend cattle at White Oak Pastures. After living on the farm her entire life\, Jenni went to Valdosta State University and earned a degree in Business Marketing\, graduating in 2009. She remained intimately involved in the family business throughout her studies. \nAfter graduating\, Jenni set out to learn the industry. She moved to Atlanta\, where she interned at Buckhead Beef\, a SYSCO company. She put in time in every department\, from shipping and receiving to the cut shop\, and was later hired to work as a sales associate. \nIn June of 2010\, Jenni returned home to Early County to work full-time for White Oak Pastures. As the Director of Marketing\, Jenni spends her time focusing on the balance of e-commerce growth and wholesale relationships. \nCheck out White Oak Pastures here https://whiteoakpastures.com/

SUMMARY:A Taste of Indigenous Food with Mariah Gladstone
DESCRIPTION:Join the Great Falls Public Library in the Cordingley Room for this incredible opportunity!\n\n\nWhat are indigenous foods\, where do we get them\, and how do we prepare them? Many native North American foods\, both cultivated and harvested\, were removed from our diets through intentional colonial efforts. Mariah Gladstone is leading the way in a food movement that is revitalizing and incorporating these important foods into the contemporary diet. During her cooking demonstration\, she will prepare one of her original recipes and showcase other indigenous foods that can easily be used in your own kitchen.\n\nMariah Gladstone\, Piikuni (Blackfeet) and Tsalagi (Cherokee)\, grew up in Northwest Montana on and near the Blackfeet Reservation. She graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Environmental Engineering and returned home where she began her work on food advocacy. She developed Indigikitchen\, an online cooking platform\, to revitalize and re-imagine Native foods. She then earned a Master’s degree at SUNY-ESF in the Center for Native Peoples and the Environment. Mariah has been recognized as a Luce Indigenous Knowledge Fellow by the First Nations Development Institute\, as well as a 2025 Castanea Fellow by the Earth Island Institute. She has shared the importance of reconnecting to traditional foods at events throughout North America and abroad\, as well as through appearances on the Today Show\, CBC\, and numerous podcasts. In addition to all this\, Mariah offers a variety of cultural experiences for visitors to the Blackfeet Nation and Glacier National Park. Mariah released her first book\, Mountains to Oceans: Kids’ Recipes from Native Land\, in January 2025.

SUMMARY:Women in Agricultural Communities Well-Being Retreats
DESCRIPTION:This retreat was created to bring together women in agricultural communities from across Montana for a chance to take a break from the busy-ness of typical life. Red Ants Pants Foundation knows that life can be challenging: running a business\, a family or both… working the ranch\, tending the garden\, living in rural communities\, and navigating the complexity of community relationships comes with its own benefits and costs. We believe that we are all stronger together as we attempt to navigate the overwhelm. \n

SUMMARY:PCQI Food Safety Training
DESCRIPTION:Does your company need a Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) on staff to fulfill the requirements of the Preventive Controls for Human Food regulation of the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)? \nThe Current Good Manufacturing Practice\, Hazard Analysis\, and Risk‐based Preventive Controls for Human Food regulation (referred to as the Preventive Controls for Human Food regulation) is intended to ensure safe manufacturing/processing\, packing and holding of food products for human consumption in the United States. The regulation requires that certain activities must be completed by a “preventive controls qualified individual.” \nThis rule states that every human food manufacturer\, except for the very smallest (who have modified requirements) must have a PCQI develop and implement your facility’s food safety plan and other key tasks (See 21CFR117.180 (c) (1)). \nThis course\, developed by the Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance (FSPCA) and led by a Lead FSPCA instructor\, is the standardized curriculum recognized by the FDA; successfully completing this course is one way to meet the requirements for a “preventive controls qualified individual.” \nParticipants will receive a certificate of completion directly from the FSPCA after completing the course. \nThis course was revised to Version 2.0 in 2025. The updated version addresses important updates in FDA guidance documents; PCQIs will need this knowledge to keep their Food Safety Plans up-to-date.
