Helena

Helena Community Gardens (HGC) builds gardens, provides the tools and knowledge to grow food, and increases access to healthy and affordable food. We currently manage eleven gardens in the Helena area.

Sixth Ward Park Garden, like each of our community gardens, provides participants with an individual plot, tools, water, compost, straw, common space, and the knowledge and guidance of Garden Managers and the HCG network. With these resources — and a little bit of persistence and patience — gardeners cultivate food for their family and friends. Gardeners are encouraged to donate to Helena Food Share, as well!

Sixth Ward Park Garden is our newest garden, built on under-utilized urban land in partnership with the City of Helena Parks & Recreation Department.  It was completed in fall 2016.  There are about 35 plots, all-raised beds for easy access.  Each has its own water supply.
